On 11 Sep 2026 TechCrunch (Bloomberg) reported Moonshot AI, maker of Kimi/K3, is targeting $2 billion in annualized revenue by year-end — double its August run rate — on the back of K3’s summer launch. OpenRouter still shows on the order of 300 billion K3 tokens per day despite some usage dip. Revenue remains far below OpenAI/Anthropic (~$40B / ~$65B cited), and open weights mean thinner margins. Timing is awkward: Anthropic this week accused Moonshot of industrial Claude distillation (~300k Kimi→Opus routes; 23M+ Anthropic responses collected).
