On 4 Sep 2026 TechCrunch reported that XDOF — which collects real-world teleoperation data to train general-purpose robots — is in late-stage talks for a Series B at roughly $1.2B valuation led by 8VC, per people familiar with the deal. Co-founded in 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu (CEO) and Fred Shentu (CTO). TechCrunch covered a $70M Series A in June with Thrive, Andreessen Horowitz, Lux and Spark Capital. The company had not planned to raise again so soon; rapid growth (annualized revenue approaching $50M) drew VC inbound. Total raise size and whether $1.2B is pre- or post-money were not confirmed; terms could still change. XDOF and 8VC did not comment.
