If I want to sit down, have a drink, and order something small, that should be my choice. I shouldn’t have to buy extra food I don’t want just to meet some minimum.

I get why restaurants do it. They want to make as much money as possible when every table is full. But that doesn’t mean customers should be pressured into spending more than they planned.

If someone is sitting at a table for three hours and barely ordering anything, then sure, set a reasonable time limit during peak hours.

But forcing people to hit a certain dollar amount just feels unnecessary.
