Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to speak Monday night at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s Annual Leadership Summit at The Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip. The Review-Journal reports that the visit will disrupt both air traffic and surface roads.
A Federal Aviation Administration temporary flight restriction for VIP movement, issued Saturday, covers Southern Nevada airspace from 3:30 p.m. Monday until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Those hours point to an overnight stay. Harry Reid International Airport travelers should plan for ground stops when Air Force Two lands Monday afternoon and when it leaves Tuesday morning.
From the airport, the motorcade is expected to head to The Venetian. Local law enforcement typically holds traffic while the convoy moves. Roads that could be affected include the Airport Connector, the 215 Beltway, Interstate 15, Spring Mountain Road, Las Vegas Boulevard, Tropicana Avenue, University Center Drive and Paradise Road.
Valley motorists should expect delays both on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. The Review-Journal published the traffic advisory at 8:47 a.m. Pacific Time on August 31.
