On 8 Sep 2026 OpenAI launched ChatGPT Images 2.5 for ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex on desktop/mobile/web: better reference fidelity, more precise local edits, stronger multi-turn consistency, up to 50% lower generation latency vs Images 2.0, plus in-product Sketch (@Sketch), creative templates, and shareable prompts. The Images API adds GPT‑Image‑2.5 Flare (quality/speed default) and GPT‑Image‑2.5 Sunburst (longer, higher-control creative). Safety continues with prompt/image checks, C2PA metadata, and invisible watermarks.
