Nvidia officially ships DLSS 5 this week: AI upscaling/enhancement for games, initially only in NBA 2K27 on RTX 50-series (and GeForce Now). Heavy performance cost; developer sliders control how much faces/scenes change after March controversy over ‘yassified’ demos. On 4 Sep 2026 Nvidia told The Verge DLSS 5 will officially expand to RTX 40-series after RTX 50 tuning this fall — but gamers still get only an on/off toggle (granular Structure/Tone/masking controls stay developer-side). Nvidia would not re-confirm the original multi-game launch list beyond “more games are on the way.”
