A few years ago, I discovered that GOOD Meat, one of the two companies then licensed by the FDA to sell lab-grown meat in the US, was using a Chinese company called JOINN Biologics to grow its product in bioreactors in the Bay Area. The parent company of JOINN is closely linked to the PLA’s biowarfare division and, just as bad, is one of the world’s largest breeders of lab primates.

So: a product that was sold as being the “cruelty free” future of food was made by a company whose parent breeds tens of thousands of primates a year for lives of abject misery and torture.

For whatever reason, despite my attempts to get the story into national and international news, it was largely ignored.
