For more than two weeks, residents across East Las Vegas and Henderson have reported heavy Asian cockroach activity inside homes and garages. Ridtech Pest Control in Henderson is now offering free exterior treatments to affected households.
Clark County's Jennifer Cooper said Vector Control has taken complaints region-wide and attributes the surge to recent wet conditions that push insects indoors, not solely to construction near Clark County Wetlands Park. The county will maintain pest control at nearby county properties but says residents handle their own homes; broad insecticide use inside the protected wetlands is not an option.
A UNLV entomologist noted unusually large numbers of adult cockroaches in multiple homes. Experts suggest yellow "bug lights," sealing gaps, and professional treatment until cooler weather arrives.
