Zoox robotaxis start serving Las Vegas airport

Zoox said riders can hail its purpose-built robotaxi to and from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas starting Thursday 3 Sep 2026, with pick-up and drop-off at both terminals near baggage claim — closer than the Uber and Lyft pick-up point, which sits a five to ten minute walk away in a nearby parking garage. The expansion follows a temporary federal exemption granted in August from eight motor vehicle safety standards, valid two years and covering up to 2,500 vehicles, which let the Amazon-owned company start charging for rides on 10 August after a year of free rides; Zoox has also begun testing in San Diego and Houston and published its safety framework. Competition is queued up: Tesla, Uber and Waymo all received Nevada Transportation Authority permits last month for commercial robotaxi service in Clark County, together allowing up to 8,000 robotaxis over the next twelve months.
